This is the fourth Mac I upgraded to Mountain Lion in the past few days and the only one with Parallels 7 on it. Has anyone else experienced this problem with Parallels 7? I submitted the issue to the Parallels forum but so far there are no asnwers. I can dowload Parallels 7 again but am not sure what would happen to our Windows 7 files if I repalced it. Next Up Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac Win 8 and Win 7 on Mountain Lion. Searched the Console app for strings containing the word Parallels and there are no results. Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac Win 8 and Win 7 on Mountain Lion. Pulled all the Parallels plists from the ~/Library/Preferences folder then logged out and back in again I've tried the following without success. Parallels, VM Fusion, CrossOver, and Wine are all options. I did not get a message about incompatble software at the end of the upgrade and I do not have an incompatible software folder at the root level of her home folder. You could try installing a Virtual Machine with Windows and run NotePad++ that way.
Parallels tools are not available for this operating system.

We had Parallels 7 working nicely in Lion. The Parallels representative also commented that select users were offered a free upgrade to Parallels Desktop 7 for a short period when OS X Lion came out, although many users have commented they were not notified of the offer. OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.x OS X Lion 10.7.x OS X Lion Server 10.7.x Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server 10.6.x Mac OS X Leopard Server 10.5.x Only the one downloaded with help of Installation Assistant. Either it says the program is not supported on this Mac or not supported by this OS. I get one of two error messages when trying to Launch it. The dock icon and the icon in the applications folder have a universal stop sign (circle with a slash through it) positioned on them. It is listed on Parallels' site and on Roaringaps as compatible with Mountain Lion. Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac and prior versions are NOT compatible with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion Run Windows faster than Parallels Desktop 7.

Everything went well except Parallels 7 will not launch. A copy of Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion - dmg image downloaded Make sure to install Parallels Tools: Opening Parallels, and under the Virtual Machine tab at the top, click: Install Parallels Tools. I upgraded my wife's 13" MBP (mid 2011) to Mountain Lion this morning. I am not sure people here can help but it is worth a try.
